How to Find the Right Photographer For You

Choosing a wedding photographer is frustrating and confusing, right? Well it doesn't have to be. There are three steps to help find a photographer that's best for you.

Since photography is a visual media, you need to do some legwork. You need to visit with photographers and see their photographs. Since photography studios have different packages, wedding day coverage and prices, you have a wide selection from which to choose.

Decide on the style you like.

Not sure? Look through bridal magazines; go to photography studios, galleries or web sites.
Contemporary, traditional, posed, semi-posed, candids.
Color, Black and White, or Both.
If you find the style that you like (and it doesn't matter what it's called), then you're ready for step 2.

Choose a professional photographer.

You're Uncle Joe may be a great wildlife photographer, but that doesn't mean he'll be able to give you the wedding photographs you want. (Besides, he should be there celebrating your special day.)
Has wedding experience.
Provides quality photographs.
Quality photographs should be sharp with true colors and should not lose quality when enlarged. There are, however, some exceptions, such as photographs showing motion, emotion and special effects. Like a work of art, you should like the style, whether the poses are candids or formals, traditional or contemporary.
Uses professional equipment - camera, lights, lab etc.
Has backup equipment.
Has a professional work ethic and personality that you can work with before, after and during the wedding day.
Is flexible to your needs.

If at this point, you still have more than one wedding photographer in mind, then use the next step as the deciding factor.

Choose a wedding day package or service that fits your budget.
You'll find that the most photographs combined with the cheapest price, may not be the best deal for you.

Finding the style, photographer and price that you want will help ensure that the photographs will be enjoyed for a lifetime.
